No prompt today. I’m choosing my topic.
I’m doing my postmortem on NaNoWriMo.
This year I wrote about 22,000 words. No, I didn’t win, but I passed my personal goal of 20,000 words. Not bad, given that I had dental surgery in the middle of the month.
Out of that figure, I have about 7.300 words in the actual next book for Jordan Abbey series, tentatively titled Chaos Kin. The rest of the words are split among the outline, blog posts, and some free writing I’m doing with a friend that will probably never see the light of day.
Overall, I’m happy with what I accomplished in November. I can get about 500 words a day done, and if I push, I can do 750. I’m hoping I can work on getting those numbers higher, so 1667 doesn’t seem like such an out of reach stretch in the future.
Side Note: You can get a free copy of Chaos Wolf this month by signing up for the Liminal Fiction Email List. And if you opt onto my email list as part of signing up, I will send you Chaos Unleashed, which is not available in stores.
Congratulations! It’s been years now since I’ve even made a serious attempt at NaNoWriMo. Granted, I’m not a real writer, but I know something of what that’s like and have the utmost respect for anyone who hits their goals, whatever those goals are. Well done!
