No Longer Coughing Up A Lung

I had a whole list of things I planned for my blog after the first of the year. Then on the 30th of December I came down with the Chest Cold of Death(tm). So all my new years plans got cancelled in favor of trying not to cough.  Two weeks later, I finally have stopped coughing enough that I can return to my day job.

For my author job, I’ve gotten a lot done.  I’ve written over 13,000 words since the start of the year over several different projects.  I am working on the behind-the-scenes stuff for releasing Chaos Wolf out into the world.  I’m hoping once I have that done, the next novel will be easier since I will have a lot of this stuff already in place. I’m trying not to get overwhelmed as I make decisions about what steps to take next.

One thing that I’ve found is helping me with my word count production is the website 4TheWords.  It has enough gamification for me to keep things interesting without being frustrating.  The word count battles are helping me get over my hesitation to put things down on the page.  After all, all they want is a number.  I can go back and edit stuff later.

(In the middle of this, Sherbert has brought me her favorite toy to play with and settled on my chest. The Terrible Trio have been by my side the whole time I’ve been ill, cuddling or bringing me their toys to make me happy. Today has been no exception, despite me being mean and taking Julius to the V-E-T for his annual checkup.  I’m sure none of them will be happy when I go back to work Tuesday. Or next Saturday when it’s Popsicle’s turn for a V-E-T visit.)

So this week I’m going to be trying to get a lot more things cleared from my to-do list, despite having to return to my day job.  I should be able to start making announcements about various things around mid February.  I don’t want to jinx myself by announcing things before I have a definite yes.
