Before I made those cunning hats for my friends, I made myself an R2D2 Beanie.
This was the first hat that I made, and the entire reason I braved the insanity of double pointed needles. They are used for knitting small circumference circles, like socks, the top of a hat, or the base of a bag. Double pointed needles resemble overgrown toothpicks. Instead of managing two needles at a time, double pointed needles requires you juggle three or four needles at any given time. It took a lot of coordination, but the results were more than worth it.
I drag this hat out to wear to certain events. In fact, I can think of two or three I should bring it to. And yes, I will make beeping noises while I wear it.
